The people voted the Mayor in and if this is representative of the majority well, so be it. Don't like what the Mayor did? Vote him out in the next election. Feeling left out? Ask the Mayor to include your holiday next year. Another frivilous lawsuit from the Left.

Government as Parent?

Whoa wait a sec! A new state law requires aid recipients to demonstrate personal responsibility in matters of family health.
This piece of legislature applies to Texans (for now). But, sets a dangerous precedent of Goverment as Parent. We've got enough trouble with the goverment "taking care" of what they are (supposed to) be doing.
They don't need to be telling me what to do with my kids. I suspect Jehova's Witnesses will have something to say about a bill passed in the last Legislature that requires parents to make sure kids see a doctor for immunizations and see a dentist regularly for check-ups.
